Manufacturer: FOXBORO (Invensys / Schneider Electric Process Automation)
Part Number: P0400ZG (NBI = Node Bus Interface rack-mounted communication gateway, totally different from P0400VE / P0400GH FF H1 fieldbus power hubs)
Product Type: Nodebus network interface gateway card, bridges I/A Series control node Nodebus backbone with external NBI peripheral devices, simplex rack slot module, supports isolated serial & relay hardwired alarm outputs, non-fieldbus power supply unit
Matching Platform: Foxboro I/A Series DCS, CP40/CP40B control processors, Nodebus plant backbone network, operator workstations, alarm annunciator panels, remote HMI, third-party monitoring systems, standard I/A node rack backplane
Core Function: Bidirectional Nodebus protocol conversion & data forwarding between local control node and external NBI equipment; 8 digital discrete input channels for external contact status acquisition; 8 digital discrete output channels for remote status signal transmission; 2 isolated Form C relay alarm outputs for hardwired plant alarm annunciators; galvanic isolation between Nodebus backplane and external I/O circuits to eliminate ground loop interference; full multi-layer self-diagnosis (bus communication fault, channel open/short, relay contact failure); front panel multi-color LED indicators for RUN, NODEBUS LINK, FAULT, DI/DO channel status; industrial conformal coated PCB compliant with ISA G3 harsh industrial standard; single-width node rack slot, hot-swap replaceable without full node shutdown; supports continuous real-time process alarm, event and trend data offloading to external monitoring systems
1. Product Overview
P0400ZG is an NBI Node Bus Interface communication gateway card for Foxboro I/A Series DCS node racks, completely distinct from the DIN rail FF H1 power hub series P0400VE / P0400GH. It acts as a dedicated network bridge between the internal Nodebus high-speed backbone of the control node and external peripheral monitoring, annunciator and auxiliary control equipment, realizing cross-system bidirectional data interaction without additional third-party protocol gateways. Equipped with 8DI + 8DO discrete signal channels plus 2 independent Form C relay alarm contacts, the module collects external cabinet door status, fire detection, UPS fault and auxiliary equipment contact signals via DI channels; transmits real-time process alarm, unit trip, controller fault and equipment running status signals to remote light annunciator panels, central monitoring consoles via DO channels; the two relay outputs provide dry contact hard alarm signals for plant safety annunciator systems. All external signal circuits adopt full galvanic isolation design to isolate industrial field ground potential differences and suppress electromagnetic interference from large motors and inverters. Built-in dedicated Nodebus protocol processing chip realizes high-speed transparent forwarding of real-time process values, historical events, alarm logs and controller diagnostic data between the control node and external NBI devices. Multi-dimensional real-time self-diagnosis continuously monitors Nodebus backplane communication loss, DI/DO cable open/short circuit, relay contact burnout and module power supply abnormality; all fault information is timestamped and uploaded to DCS operator HMI, paired with front panel channel LED status lights for fast on-site troubleshooting. Standard single-width rack slot design saves node cabinet space, supports hot-swap maintenance without shutting down the whole control node. The PCB is coated with anti-humidity, anti-dust conformal coating, meets ISA S71.04 Class G3 harsh industrial standard, applicable to power, petrochemical, chemical and offshore Zone2 control room environments. FOXBORO original production of P0400ZG has been discontinued; it is only supplied as surplus new or fully tested refurbished spare parts for aging I/A Series DCS node rack renovation, alarm system expansion and peripheral monitoring interface upgrade projects.
